Shades of meaning

Thinking today about the differences between "Suffering," "Suffering for" and "Suffering with."

What do YOU think?

  1. Hmmm... "Suffering for" hints at a reason behind the suffering, like an individual or a group almost have a say in the matter. "Suffering" and "Suffering with" might fall into the same category, but I think "suffering with" might be easier in some ways than regular "suffering" because it might mean you have somebody around who can either empathize with what you're going through, or else help you get through it.
